Aidan is our very happy, healthy, contented Irish Wolfhound baby. Sure, he is a large 160 lb, bouncing baby at times, but he is the reason we started feeding our dogs a raw food diet over six years ago now. He shares his food with our pack of miniature long-haired Dachshunds, who all weight under 11lbs. So yes, we cover the range of hound sizes at our home. Check out the Our Story page for more on how we got started feeding a raw food diet.

We have found nutritious raw foods for our hounds from a wide variety of local places, always on the look out for healthy alternatives and good deals. We have gone though grinders and spent hours finding, preparing and packaging pounds and pounds of food for our motley crew over the years. Recently we decided to help support others in their choice to feed a raw food diet by offering some raw food products for sale. One of the key things about a raw food diet is variety. Achieving a balanced diet through a variety of meats, vegetables, fruits and mineral & vitamin supplements.

[Mountain Dog Food]

An excellent place to either start feeding or buy the essential ingredients of a raw pet food diet is to consider Mountain Dog Food products. They offer a nice variety of conveniently packaged choices. From just meat with bone, either chicken or turkey, for those that want to add their own vegetables & fruits & supplements to a number of mixes that have vegetables & fruits already included with the meat. They have low fibre mixes, small breed mixes, complete mixes that include supplements and a new Opti-Joint formulation designed to help dogs affected with arthritis.

Depending on package size, the specific product and shipping costs, the prices, including taxes, range from around $1.03 to $3.70 per pound. Pricing will vary from time-to-time because all of the trucking companies adjust their rates based on the price of fuel. At the moment shipping costs aren't too bad, adding about 22 to 25 cents per pound, but as you know fuel pricing has of late been far from stable. Call us for more information about the different products as well as for current pricing.

[Frozen Ground Tripe]

We are currently working with a local supplier to provide ground Beef Tripe in convenient packaging. They also have a mixture of Egg & Cheese that is approximately 60% hard boiled eggs and 40% cheese. Both the Tripe and the Egg & Cheese mixture is ground up and then frozen in 40 lb tubs, which are then cut into smaller cubes. We package the cubes up, approximately 3 lbs to a freezer bag and sell it for $3.60 per bag.
